I'd expect at some point the guy who develops Marvin for ios and the devs for Aldiko on android could come up with something, as they each have schemes for syncing between devices using Dropbox.

There should be a way for devs to get together and come up with something. I just use calibre to convert, email the mobi to my kindle account, and it's available in the cloud tab on all of my devices, and everything syncs - last open position, notes, highlights, etc.Īpart from that, there isn't anything for pure epubs available on more than one platform that does this yet. I generally use it for stuff I find on manybooks/feedbooks that are better formatted than the free kindle conversions that are available through amazon, as well as several nook epubs that are better editions than their mobi counterparts (for example, Neal Stephenson's Baroque Cycle, when re-released for kindle as "P.S." Editions for the kindle, had their complex formatting destroyed, while the nook versions were still intact).

Rumours of an Xbox Reading application on the way, but what are the chances that MS will allow full syncing across all platforms? And Google Play Books works really well across all my available devices (Android, Windows 8, Windows RT), but there's no standalone application like there is for Kindle, and the in-browser experience is horrible. Has anyone else found a solution to syncing your books and reading progress across Windows and Android? I really want to stick with Kindle because I already have a library with them (and a backlog of a few titles), but not being able to sync my PDFs and epubs kind of kills it for me. Even if I turn my brightness down to the lowest, the black text on white background is still too damn glaring for my eyes while reading in bed. I can't find a way to set the interface to be more reader friendly, such as a dark background and light text.

I've got all my PDF books syncing progress in Google Play Books, but I cannot stand the interface in the browser or the Chrome App. As well, Amazon has blocked the send-to-Kindle functionality for the Windows reader applications: send to Kindle only works on my phone. But for the handful of books (mostly PDFs that I've converted to mobi via Calibre) I've uploaded to my account progress and books are not synced. I've probably got about 30 books on my Amazon Kindle account (bought through Amazon) that all sync perfectly fine between my Android phone and Windows 8 tablet. Obviously Google Books and Amazon Kindle apps do this, but Amazon doesn't sync progress for your own books and Google Play Books is absolutely horrid on a desktop. I'm looking for an ebook reader that can work on at least Android and Windows 8 (RT and/or desktop) that will sync your books and reading progress across your devices.
